I spent last Friday as a guest on board the latest P & O luxury cruise ship Azura.
What a beautiful ship!
Azura is the sister ship to Ventura, but do not let that put you off. Although she is identical to look at; inside she has been designed in a unique way, giving her sophistication and style, in keeping with the more traditional P & O Cruises ships of old.
Yes, she is large carrying over 3000 passengers when full, but it is her size that makes what she has work so well. Azura is packed with the usual P & O features familiar to us all, but her increased size allows for many more new and exciting features to be added giving her a feel of 21st century travel, but without losing the traditional touches, the reason so many of us still cruise. For those of you familiar with Oriana, think her and then add on more space and more interest.
I think it fair to say P & O built Azura to appeal to couples and singles of the more traditional cruising fraternity, but that is not to say that families both young and older will not be made welcome and at home.
In fact Azura is fitted out with some of the best childrens' facilities I have seen on any super ship lately - an area occupying nearly a whole deck. Yes, children are very well catered for indeed.
All the cabins are very well appointed and she has a good range catering for singles, couples, and families. All are en-suite of course and are proportioned generously. As always singles and family cabins will be the first to be taken so early booking is always recommended. Indeed such will be her popularity I expect early booking will be advised on all her sailings, guarenteeing the cabin of your choice, your restaurant sitting and the best of the prices.
Azura will without doubt allow the seasoned cruise passenger to continue the experience they have come to expect, and will also welcome those new to cruising who are looking for a traditional but relaxing great value for money experience at sea.
I must mention The Retreat - Azura is a ship designed to offer you the ultimate in relaxation and pampering, and The Retreat - her exclusive outdoor spa terrace, will be the place to experience this at its best. Alfresco massages and wonderful views are just two of the delights you can savour. Without doubt in my mind the best of the spa terraces I have seen on any cruise ship of late, and I have seen a lot of them.
